Role Overview: The Red Hat OpenShift Administrator/Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-grade OpenShift clusters. He will focus on automating infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and optimizing containerized workloads. This role bridges the gap between traditional system administration and modern DevOps practices, requiring a deep understanding of Linux internals, Kubernetes orchestration, and CI/CD integration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cluster Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain high-availability Red Hat OpenShift clusters across hybrid cloud environments (On-premise, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Use tools like Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation to automate the provisioning and scaling of cluster nodes.
• Security & Compliance: Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), manage secrets, and ensure container security using tools like Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) or Quay.
• Monitoring & Performance: Set up and manage cluster-wide monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and EFK/Loki stacks to ensure optimal performance and proactive troubleshooting.
• Storage & Networking: Configure persistent storage solutions (e.g., ODF/OCS, NFS, or Cloud Storage) and manage SDN (Software Defined Networking) and Ingress controllers.
• DevOps Integration: Support development teams by integrating OpenShift with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Tekton, or GitLab CI) and assisting with application containerization.
• Upgrades & Patching: Manage cluster lifecycle, including non-disruptive upgrades, patching, and disaster recovery planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Experience: 5–7 years of experience in System Administration or DevOps, with at least 2 years focused on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
